Pair trading strategies are aimed at profiting from price divergence/convergence between two stocks. This form of trading is most suitable with stocks which are highly correlated. Two stocks are correlated when their prices tend to move in sync. Traders can now search for highly correlated stocks in WHS TechScan. A first query gives, for each stock of a given market index, the five most correlated stocks within that market index. A second query gives, for each stock of a given industry sector, the most correlated stocks within that industry sector.

Pattern recognition: WHS AutoChartist - September 2010
Clients can now use WHS AutoChartist, our new professional chart pattern recognition tool. This tool is free and automatically identifies all important chart patterns as well as all six Fibonacci chart patterns. Chart patterns are a valuable source of trading signals. Traders get an automatic notification on their screen when a chart pattern is about to appear.
Pairs trading - September 2010
Pairs trading (also called long-short trading or market neutral trading) is a strategy used by all institutional investors. A web page containing a clear explanation of this strategy has been added to our website. A new functionality to identify and analyze pairs has been added to WHS TechScan module. WHS FutureStation already contained a tool to plot and analyze pairs. If you are interested in swing trading it will be worth your while to look into pairs trading.
Forex: Fractional pips - August 2010
Starting 9 August forex spreads will be quoted in fractional pips i.e. one decimal smaller than a pip. If, for example, the price goes up the spread would now evolve from 1,3201 – 1,3202 to 1,3202 – 1,3203. With fractional pips the price could now evolve as follows for example, 1,32011 – 1,32021, 1,32012 – 1,32022, 1,32013 – 1,32023 etc. This brings our quoting to the highest industrial standard in the institutional forex market.

The new "TwinCharts" functionality allows traders to link charts which are in different time frames. The linked charts then become one trading tool. With TwinCharts, for example, you can draw a trend channel in a day chart and it will also appear automatically in your trading chart. Or you can place an order based on support or resistance in the Day chart and the order will appear in your main trading chart.

US stocks & options: Uptick rule no longer exists - August 2007
Starting today, 20 August, the uptick rule no longer applies to Nyse, Amex and Nasdaq stocks. Short sell orders entered by retail investors will be executed immediately. An preceding uptick is no longer required. It is advised to use the ATD router when placing such orders.
Futures: stop orders on server (SYOMS) - July 2007
Contrary to other exchanges like, for example, Eurex, Euronext does not allow stop orders to reside on its server. Going forward your stop orders on the AEX future, the CAC40 future, … are held on the server of the depository bank.
